During our conflict resolution/anger management unit, 4th graders will focus a great amount of time on the steps to calming down during an argument. We will look at different conflict situations and apply several different solutions to each in order to see which solution would work best in each situation. The students will hear the words "compromise" and "mediator" quite a bit this month, so ask your child what these mean!

Character Counts
In fourth grade, the character quality we discuss is kindness. Lessons will include talking about what kindness is, making caring wishes, putting kindness into action and showing appreciation for others.

Bullying Prevention
We just wrapped up our study skills unit. During the month of September 4th graders learned about different learning styles and were reminded of positive study habits and the benefits of completing homework assignments. Ask your child what they can do to improve their study skills!
In October we will talk about bullying prevention. This week we will have a discussion on what bullying is and why some kids choose to display bullying behavior.
Back to School!
Week 1: Stringing Conversation Together students will begin to build class community by learning more about each other.
Week 2: Tic Tac Toe Do's and Don'ts students will apply strategies emphasizing individual responsibility for educational tasks and skills.
Week 3: What's in Your Bag? We will discuss what is appropriate to bring to school and what things we should not bring.
